About Galena 2026

Image

Galena was established as a village in 1826.  On December 27 of that year, in a forgotten tavern on Main Street, people of the "Village on Fever River" voted to adopt the name "Galena," the lead ore that brought prosperity to the region.

Our mission is to celebrate Galena's bicentennial in 2026 with a series of events throughout they year, punctuated by a signature event in September, and capped off with a birthday party and fireworks (maybe) on December 27th.

As events are conceived and scheduled, they will be listed on this website.  If you have an idea for an event, or have an event planned that you would like listed here, please contact us.
